Gurney C. Passant currently works and lives
in Tampa, Florida but he was born and raised in the Chicago, Illinois. His art interest began at a very young age and
continued to present time. Gurney often remembers the cold – long rides in his Mom’s VW Bug or AMC Gremlin to
his art sessions in Barrington, Illinois.
The passion for painting was rekindled after his trips to India the past few years. Gurney
admired the work by artists living in the Chennai, India artist village named Cholamandal - http://www.cholamandalartistsvillage.org/. The explosion of colors reflected from the villages, clothing, and Indian holidays inspires most
of his current work.
Gurney’s
favorite artists include Picasso, Monet, Nagel, Seurat, and his favorite – Vincent Van Gogh
